Founded in 1969 in Fort Worth, Texas, Virtuoso is a globally recognized authority in luxury travel. Membership is strictly invitation-only: each year, candidates worldwide undergo multi-round review through internal referral and selection. Roughly 2% of leading agencies ultimately join. Virtuoso Greater China membership signals that an agency has met one of the industry’s most rigorous standards—and affirms its professional strength and reputation in luxury travel.

Membership has grown from 15 agencies in 2015 to 59, with more than 1,000 advisors; hotel and resort business has grown nearly ninefold since 2022, and luxury cruise business has risen 17 times versus 2019—underscoring strong momentum and long-term potential in Greater China’s luxury travel market.

David Kolner, Executive Vice President of Strategic Communications at Virtuoso, shared the latest global travel trends. Per WTTC, travel and tourism contributed nearly USD 12 trillion to GDP in 2025—over 10% of the world economy—and supported more than 370 million jobs. Oxford Economics projects nearly 26% growth in Greater China outbound travel in 2026. Kolner noted that this balanced expansion aligns with shifts in luxury spending: experiential consumption continues to outpace goods, making travel a key value- and emotion-driven segment of the luxury market.
